Anguilla is a British overseas territory in the Caribbean. It is one of the most northerly of the Leeward Islands in the Lesser Antilles, lying east of Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands and directly north of Saint Martin. The territory consists of the main island of Anguilla, approximately 16 miles long by 3 miles wide at its widest point, together with several much smaller islands and cays with no permanent population. The territory’s capital is The Valley. The total land area of the territory is 35 square miles, with a population of approximately 18,090.

Anguilla’s official language is English.  Locals have a slight dialect that can be heard when they communicate with each other.

Anguilla has 33 beaches. Anguilla’s beaches offer peace and serenity along with crystal clear water that hug powdery white sand beaches.

Currency

Anguilla’s official currency is the Eastern Caribbean Dollar (ECD), however, the US Dollar (USD) is accepted at an exchange rate of US$1=EC$2.70 (varies).

Electricity

The Anguilla Electricity Company (ANGLEC) supplies the island with 110v (60 cycles). U.S. Outlets are typically used.

Important Travel Information

Anguilla has done an incredible job of stopping the spread of COVID-19 and continues to have a classification of No Travel Health Notice: Very Low Risk for COVID-19 from the Centers for Disease Control. 

All travelers must be pre-approved for entry through the Anguilla Tourist Board’s website, including providing a negative rt-PCR test result from a naso-pharyngeal swab obtained three to five days prior to arrival and proof of health insurance that covers COVID-related treatment. Once approved, you will pre-pay government fees that cover testing. You can start the pre-approval process right away and add your test results and payment later. A travel concierge will guide you through the process.
